Meet the Spark Ups: Pudology

Lucy Wager has created a range of luxury 'free from' desserts which are tasty and affordable.

She has joined this year’s Spark Up programme, to help grow the brand and reach a high street consumer market.

Lucy, 33 from Cheshire began trading in 2012 after discovering she was intolerant to dairy and egg products. Realising there was little options for tasty treats for people like her, she set about creating and developing her own dessert recipes and Pudology was formed.

With the help of family members and other ‘pudologists’ she now sells a range of five different products including dairy free yoghurts, puddings and biscuit based favourites. Baking has now moved from the family kitchen to a small production facility in South Wales and to date she has sold 300,000 desserts to customers all over the UK.

Lucy has worked in the food industry for most of her life, completing a Food and Consumer degree at Birmingham University and then going on to work for a several leading food manufacturers and high street food retailers.

She said: “I have always loved cooking and my family are big dessert fans, so it’s no surprise that I have spent most of my life studying and working in the food industry.

“Being an entrepreneur and owning my own business is a completely new challenge for me and one which have really enjoyed so far. Pudology has been trading for three years now and I am hoping that Spark Up will help me take it to a new level and give me the tools I need to push the business to where I know it can reach.

“At Pudology our motto is indulgence without compromise, so regardless of your dietary restrictions you can enjoy delicious desserts with your friends and family. Everything we make is free from dairy, eggs, gluten and nuts – but they still taste amazing thanks to the coconut milk and Belgian chocolate we use.”
